Uitvlugt Resort forms part of a remarkable birding region, with over 418 recorded bird species. This area—connected to Rust de Winter Dam and Nature Reserve and the greater Dinokeng Big-5 Game Reserve—is considered a true paradise for bird lovers. The diversity of habitats, from acacia savanna and dry woodland to lush riverine forests along the Elands River and Rust de Winter Dam, supports an incredible variety of birdlife.

Birdwatchers can expect sightings ranging from kingfishers and bee-eaters to waders and raptors. Large storks are frequently seen, including marabou, saddle-billed, and Abdim’s storks, while the riverbanks provide nesting sites for vibrant colonies of bee-eaters and rare kingfishers. Seasonal migrant birds further enhance this already rich biodiversity, increasing the population by up to 20% during peak periods.
